As for the upcoming “Deadpool 2” movie, that is set to release this May. As we mentioned earlier, “Deadpool 2” won’t have too much competition on opening weekend. The film is set to share the box-office with the ensemble comedy-drama “Book Club” with Jane Fonda, Alicia Silverstone, Mary Steenburgen, Diane Keaton, Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, Candice Bergen, Richard Dreyfuss and Craig T. Nelson, and the family-comedy “Show Dogs” with Will Arnett, Natasha Lyonne, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Jordin Sparks, Gabriel Iglesias, Shaquille O’Neal, and Stanley Tucci. The big competition will be Deadpool’s follow-up week, when the film takes on “Solo: A Star Wars Story“.
Star Wars fans and Marvel fans are one in the same, so it will be interesting to see if the “Deadpool 2” craze hurts Star Wars’ opening weekend. The film is the long-awaited follow up to the hit “Deadpool” released back in 2016. The original film was a runaway success for FOX that year, bringing in over $132M on the film’s opening weekend. The comedy-adventurer went on to make over $363M domestically, and over $783M worldwide. If you missed the first Deadpool 2 trailer, you can watch that here.
