Disney released a surprise teaser-trailer for “Mary Poppins Returns” during the Academy Awards presentation. The film is set to release this Christmas, and the video gives fans their first-look at Emily Blunt taking on the iconic role.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is joining Emily Blunt in the film, which will be a follow-up to the original 1964 hit. The films are based on the ‘Mary Poppins’ books written by PL Travers, the story of Mary Poppins was originally told over seven novels. The original film adaptation, made by Disney, starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke and was nominated for 13 Academy Awards at the time.

This new installment is set in 1930s London, the same time-period of the original stories by PL Travers. The story follows Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane Banks (Emily Mortimer), who are now grown up. Michael is living with his three children (Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, and Joel Dawson) and housekeeper Ellen (Julie Walters), in the house on Cherry Tree Lane! After a personal loss, Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) comes back into the lives of the Banks family. She is joined by a street lamplighter named Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda), and an eccentric cousin named Topsy (Meryl Streep). Disney also confirmed that Dick Van Dyke will be returning to the cast, but he will be playing the role of Mr. Dawes Jr., the chairman of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. Also joining the cast is Colin Firth, who will be playing William Weatherall Wilkins.
