Last week we reported that Tiffany Haddish will be starring in a new animated-comedy on Netflix called “Tuca & Bertie,” and today, it was confirmed that Haddish will be hosting the MTV Movie and TV Awards. It’s safe to say that 2018 is going pretty well for the rising star.

MTV confirmed that the popular actress, comedian and New York Times bestselling author will host this year’s event. The “2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards” are set to air on Monday, June 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The 2018 categories and nominees will be announced at a later date.

Tiffany Haddish is quickly establishing herself as one of the most sought-after actresses and comedic talents in television and film. She exploded onto the scene after her breakout performance in the blockbuster hit “Girls Trip;” recently released a New York Times bestselling book The Last Black Unicorn; and late last year became the first black female stand-up comedian to host “Saturday Night Live.” Haddish’s viral appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” led her to become the face of Groupon and appear in the company’s 2018 Super Bowl commercial.

Haddish is set to star opposite Tracy Morgan in the TBS sitcom “The Last OG” and alongside Kevin Hart in Universal’s “Night School,” premiering later this year.

In the Netflix series that we mentioned earlier, Tiffany Haddish will voice the lead character named ‘Tuca’ in the series. The series is being produced by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company. According to Netflix, the animated series is a comedy about the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.

Lisa Hanawalt (BoJack Horseman) created the series, which consists of 10-episodes for its first season and will be coming to Netflix. Hanawalt is an executive producer alongside Raphael Bob-Waksberg (BoJack Horseman), Noel Bright (BoJack Horseman, Friends), Steven A. Cohen (BoJack Horseman, Jack & Bobby) and Haddish. The animation itself is being done at Shadowmachine.
