The Winners from this Year's Event

The big winner at this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards was “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” which was named Best Film. Martin McDonagh took home the award for Best Original Screenplay, and Sam Rockwell won for best Supporting Actor. While it seemed to be a very close race, Frances McDormand won the award for Best Leading Actress.

By the end of the night, “The Shape of Water” took home three awards. Guillermo del Toro won the award for Best Director, while Alexandre Desplat won the award for Best Original Music. Allison Janney won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in “I, Tonya”.

It will be interesting to see just how closely the BAFTAs mirror the Academy Awards later this year. This year’s event was hosted by Joanna Lumley, and took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
