Disobedience Trailer: Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams Battle Faith and Community
A forbidden love plot-line runs through the Naomi Alderman adaptation
Bleecker Street has released a trailer for “Disobedience,” a romantic-drama set to hit theaters later this spring. Based on the novel by Naomi Alderman, the adaptation will star Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams, and Alessandro Nivola. The film was a hit at the Toronto International Film Festival, and you can get a great look at the project below.
“Disobedience” was directed by Sebastián Lelio, the screenplay for the film was co-written by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz. The film follows a woman as she returns to the community that shunned her decades earlier for an attraction to a childhood friend. Once back, their passions reignite as they explore the boundaries of faith and sexuality. Based on Naomi Alderman’s book, the film stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola. If you want to set a reminder to see the film in theaters, Bleecker Street will release on April 27, 2018. While April is filled with thrillers and comedies, there won’t be too many dramas releasing that month. The other dramas to look for are “Where is Kyra?” with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kiefer Sutherland; and “Beirut” with Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike.
Rachel McAdams will also be starring in the crime-comedy “Game Night” with Jesse Plemons, and Jason Bateman. That project was directed by John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein and is currently scheduled to release on February 23, 2018. Weisz is set to star in the history drama “The Favourite” alongside actors Emma Stone, Olivia Colman, Nicholas Hoult, Mark Gatiss, and Hannah Morley. The film was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, and follows the court of Queen Anne set in early 18th century England.
