Blizzard World update goes live on Overwatch
Overwatch invites players to Blizzard World
Blizzard surprised Overwatch fans with a new map and a ton of new items to loot for this week. The popular online shooter had an update earlier today, giving fans the “Blizzard World” map that was teased back at Blizzcon. The level is fully stocked with references to other Blizzard games, including Diablo, World of War Craft, and Hearthstone. Even the characters in the game are getting into the spirit, with most of the new skins resembling a popular character from a Blizzard game of yesteryear.
As you can see in the trailer below, the new map is basically a fantasy theme-park for all things Blizzard, with special areas dedicated to each of the former titles. The update is already live on PC, PS4 and the Xbox One, but it’s the lootable gear and skins that will probably have most players signing back in. Blizzard fans will probably want to comb the areas for easter eggs and clues, Blizzard has been pretty good at hiding unique little treats within the clutter of the new maps.
There are over 100 new skins, sprays, emotes, and emblems to grab with the new update. It doesn’t matter who your top-pick is, there is a new skin made just for them, and it could be yours for the luck of a loot-box. Just like the previous skins, you will have to go loot-box diving to get the new outfits and emotes, so hopefully you were close to leveling up before the update went live. Overwatch is coming up on the game’s epic two-year anniversary, and the game still remains one of the most popular online-shooters on the market. Though it’s fair to say that “Destiny,” “Fortnite,” and “PUBG” have certainly found their own variations of success since the launch of Overwatch.
If you missed the trailer that was released earlier today you can watch that below, then jump right into the game and start hoping for those loot-drops.
No word yet on the next Hero, Blizzard will probably have quite a few announcements for the May anniversary, so we will just have to wait and see.
