Sony is looking for Beta Testers for the company’s upcoming PS4 update. The popular console is gearing up for a new major system update, and Sony needs a few Guinea Pigs to hunt for bugs before the update goes live across the globe.
Interested parties can head over to Playstation’s official sign-up page to request access for the Beta, which opened earlier today. For your troubles, you can be part of a select few that get to test out the new features and improvements on the PS4 system. Sony also good news to share with Canadian players, stating that this Beta marks the first time that Canadian PS4 owners can sign-up for the beta program.
In a blog-post earlier today Sony said, “You can register to be a beta tester anytime between today and the start of the beta expected in February. Users must be 18 years or older. Once the beta starts, we’ll close registration.” The company added, “Beta testers for our previous major system software update, version 5.00, got a preview of features like Family on PSN, friend list management, message improvements and much more before launch.”
After signing up, Sony will notify approved Beta testers via e-mail. The letter will give players instructions on how to download the new Beta software and how to activate the update for your account. We should point out that you will need a PS4 (obviously) and a working SEN account to be approved, and you will need internet access to download the update.
One interesting thing to add, if you are choosen for this beta test you won’t need to sign up any future ones. Sony confirmed that you can choose to be accepted into future betas automatically “without having to register again”. You will also be rewarded for this choice with an exclusive PSN avatar. No word yet on what that will be, but you get to be part of the cool kids.
