A mystery to keep you warm this winter
The mystery thriller “Murder on the Orient Express” now has a home box-office release date. Twentieth Century Fox will release the film on Digital HD on February 20th, with the 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD versions launching on February 27, 2018. The film was quite a hit when it opened in theaters this past November, debuting at number-three after a $28M opening. The film then went on to make over $101M domestically, and over $338M worldwide. You can pre-order your preferred version on retail sites (starting at $14 on Amazon).
Everyone is a suspect in the film, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh. The all-star cast included Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penélope Cruz, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, and Leslie Odom, Jr. The mystery was based on the best selling novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The studio teased the film stating, “Everyone’s a suspect when a murder is committed on a lavish train ride, and a brilliant detective must race against time to solve the puzzle before the killer strikes again.”
Produced by Branagh along with Ridley Scott (Alien: Covenant), Simon Kinberg (Logan), Mark Gordon (Molly’s Game), Judy Hofflund (As You Like It) and Michael Schaefer (The Martian), The film is loaded with bonus material that dives into the making of the film including an eight-part documentary, eleven deleted scenes, commentary by Branagh and much more.
If you haven’t seen the film, and don’t worry we won’t spoil any of it for you, the studio is expected to follow-up the thriller with another Agatha Christie classic “Death on the Nile”. 20th Century FOX hasn’t set a release date the second Agatha Christie adaption, and no casting information has been confirmed at this time. In the meantime you can grab the home box-office version of “Murder on the Orient Express,” or re-watch the 1978 classic “Death on the Nile” starring Peter Ustinov, Mia Farrow, and Simon MacCorkindale.
