Official Ocean’s 8 Trailer Assembles the Perfect Team
Now for the heist
After yesterday’s big teaser-trailer, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first official trailer for “Ocean’s 8,” starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and Mindy Kaling. There’s no George Clooney this time around, but the movie does take place in the same ‘Ocean’s universe’ that Clooney helped to reboot back in 2001.
The story in this new installment will follow Debbie Ocean, the sister of Danny Ocean, who was recently released on parole. Bullock’s character is gathering around a crack-team of misfits and thieves to steal a necklace valued at over $100M from a celebrity at New York’s annual Met Gala. This type of crime may sound familiar, since it’s almost exactly what happened to Kim Kardashian in Paris. Collaborating with the director (Gary Ross) behind the scenes are director of photography Eigil Bryld (“In Bruges,” “Not Fade Away”), production designer Alex DiGerlando (“Beasts of the Southern Wild,” HBO’s “True Detective”), editor Juliette Welfling (“Free State of Jones,” “The Hunger Games”), costume designer Sarah Edwards (“Tower Heist,” Showtime’s “Billions”), and composer Nicholas Britell (“The Big Short,” “Free State of Jones”). Ross is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Olivia Milch (“Dude”), with Steven Soderbergh and Jon Kilik producing, Michael Tadross, Susan Ekins, Sandra Bullock, Diana Alvarez and Bruce Berman executive producing, and Milch co- producing. Filming took place in and around New York City.
Fans of the ‘Ocean’s’ franchise can watch the first full-length trailer below, which introduces the squad hoping to take down the celebrity.
The film is set for release in Summer 2018 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures. The studio will release “Ocean’s 8” in theaters on June 8, 2018.
