‘The Greatest Showman’ Trailer Brings Hugh Jackman and Elephants
Bring on the show
FOX has a new trailer for “The Greatest Showman,” the studio’s upcoming original musical starring Hugh Jackman, which is launching into theaters next month. 20th Century FOX teased the film, stating that the story “celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life”.
The story is inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, “The Greatest Showman” tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. “The Greatest Showman” was directed by Michael Gracey, with songs by Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land”) and starring Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman. Jackman is joined by Zac Efron, Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.
The musical was directed by Michael Gracey, working from a screenplay written by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon. The score was composed by John Debney and Joseph Trapanese. Fans can watch the trailer below, which is the second movie trailer released for the film.
The film will hit theaters this Christmas, but it will have a lot of competition.
The week before Christmas will be the debut of Matt Damon’s “Downsizing,” and the debut of the Christopher Walken, J.K. Simmons, and Owen Wilson comedy “Father Figures”. Universal will also be releasing “Pitch Perfect 3” that same weekend. “The Greatest Showman” will then open alongside “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which features Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart.
Even if “The Greatest Showman” wins the weekend, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will have already been in theaters for three-weeks at that point, and will most likely split audiences throughout the month. December is always packed with blockbusters and this year won’t be any different, so hold onto those movie-theater gift certificates if you get any this year.
