Netflix has set a premiere date for season 1 of “The Punisher,” and released another trailer for the highly anticipated new spinoff. Marvel fans can look forward to unlocking the entire first season of Frank Castle’s adventures on November 17th next month, and the trailer should help with the waiting.
The last time we checked-in with The Punisher was late September, when Netflix released a first-look trailer before New York Comic-Con. After the mass-shooting in Las Vegas this year, Marvel decided not to bring The Punisher to the event, but the the trailer below is probably most of (if not all) of the trailer that would have been screened. In the video The Punisher is starting to look more like the iconic character from the Marvel comics, as he continues to exact his wrath on the criminal underworld of NYC following the death of his family and the betrayal of his former soldiers.
As we mentioned before, “The Punisher” was not originally designed to have his own series on Netflix, but the portrayal was such a hit in “Daredevil” that Marvel decided to give him his own show. Netflix and Marvel originally planned to have the four-series (“Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” Luke Cage,” and “Iron Fist”) introduce themselves and then become “The Defenders,” but The Punisher doesn’t play by the rules.
Jon Bernthal will be reprising his role as Frank Castle. Steve Lightfoot (“Hannibal”) will be serving as Executive Producer and Showrunner in addition to writing the series’ first two episodes. “Marvel’s The Punisher” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. Fans can watch the second official trailer for the season below.
Marvel’s The Punisher premieres globally on November 17th, and will be available to stream on Netflix. Marvel fans also have “THOR: Ragnarok” to look forward to in November. The new Thor installment was directed by Taika Waititi, and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Cate Blanchett.
