Marvel had some exciting casting news going into New York Comic-Con this weekend. The studio confirmed that Natalia Cordova-Buckley will be a series regular for the fifth season of the ABC series, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” when the show returns with all-new episodes this winter.

Fans of the show might remember that Cordova-Buckley joined the cast of the show way back in season 3. Cordova-Buckley currently plays the role of Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, a Colombian citizen who underwent Terrigenisis during the Inhumans Outbreak. As Marvel explains, this earned her the nickname “Yo-Yo,” the Terrigenisis gifted her with “the ability to travel at superhuman speed for the length of a single heartbeat, before snapping back into her original place”. You know, like a Yo-Yo.

“Natalia is a powerhouse in her work and in her daily life, and she has imbued one of our favorite characters with her natural strength and humor. Natalia was instantly a part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. family the first day she walked onto set, and we’re happy she’s now an official member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team,” says Executive Producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell.

Fans still have a few weeks of waiting before “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” returns to ABC, but the new season will be packed with new and returning characters. Marvel fans also have “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” and “Marvel’s New Warriors” to look forward to on Freeform, and can currently watch “Marvel’s Inhumans” on ABC. Don’t forget about “Marvel’s The Gifted” over on FOX. That series stars Stephen Moyer (“Shots Fired,” “True Blood”), Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”), Natalie Alyn Lind (GOTHAM) and Percy Hynes White (“Night at the Museum 3”) as the STRUCKER family. Also starring in the series are Sean Teale (“Reign”) as ECLIPSE/MARCOS DIAZ; Jamie Chung (GOTHAM) as BLINK/CLARICE FONG aka CLARICE FERGUSON; Emma Dumont (“Aquarius”) as POLARIS/LORNA DANE; Blair Redford (“Satisfaction”) as THUNDERBIRD/JOHN PROUDSTAR; and Coby Bell (“Burn Notice”) as Sentinel Services Agent JACE TURNER.
