Woody Allen’s new “Wonder Wheel” film is a Closing Night selection of the 55th Annual New York Film Festival this year, and you can watch a new trailer for the film thanks to a quick upload from Amazon Studios. Written and Directed by Woody Allen, the film stars Justin Timberlake, Kate Winslet, Jim Belushi, and Juno Temple. For those of us that live in New York, and were born after 1940, it’s exciting to see Coney Island in its prime, but even if you’re not a regular New Yorker, you should be able to recognize a few of the iconic landmarks in the film.

The film tells the story of four characters whose lives intertwine amid the hustle and bustle of the Coney Island amusement park in the 1950s. There’s Ginny (Kate Winslet), an emotionally volatile former actress now working as a waitress in a clam house; Humpty (Jim Belushi), Ginny’s rough-hewn carousel operator husband; Mickey (Justin Timberlake), a handsome young lifeguard who dreams of becoming a playwright; and Carolina (Juno Temple), Humpty’s long-estranged daughter, who is now hiding out from gangsters at her father’s apartment. Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro captures a tale of passion, violence, and betrayal that plays out against the picturesque tableau of 1950s Coney Island.

In 2016 Allen released “Cafe Society,” which starred Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively and Steve Carell. That film also had a limited-release, only reaching upwards of 630 theaters at its peak, but did manage to gross over $11M on its opening weekend before reaching $43.7M worldwide. Both “Cafe Society” and “Wonder Wheel” are part of Allen’s partnership with Amazon Studios, so Amazon Prime users will be able to stream the films through Amazon Video. If you haven’t seen “Cafe Society” yet, Prime members can watch it for free on Amazon Video, and it currently has a 70% rating on RottenTomatoes.
