Lionsgate released the first behind-the-scenes look at Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland’s characters in the upcoming adaptation of “Chaos Walking”. The film, which is slated to release nationwide in March 2019, will also feature Mads Mikkelsen, Nick Jonas, and David Oyelowo.
The film itself is based on the best selling novel series by Patrick Ness ($7 on Amazon) and the screenplay was written by Gary Spinelli. The film “A Monster Calls,” which featured Lewis MacDougall, Sigourney Weaver, and Felicity Jones, was also based on a best-selling Patrick Ness novel. Ness wrote the screenplay for that project, which went on to gross over $3.7M domestically, and over $47M worldwide. Spinelli wrote the script to “American Made” featuring Tom Cruise, a film that debuted to a solid $17M at the box-office this past weekend.
“Chaos Walking” takes place in a dystopian world where there are no women. Obviously Daisy Ridley is starring in the film and you can see her above, so things change as the story progresses. In the same world, all of the living creatures can hear each others’ thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called ‘The Noise’. Doug Liman will be directing the film, and we are excited to see a trailer for the adaptation over the next few weeks.
March 2019 is still an open arena at this point, but there are a few heavy hitters that “Chaos Walking” will have to work around. Opening that month is Universal’s “How to Train Your Dragon 3,” which is titanic-sized franchise to deal with on its own, but Disney is also set to release “Captain Marvel” and “Dumbo” that same month. Of course these release-dates can change at anytime over the next few months, but so far March is looking to be a great month for big movies. FOX is also planning to release “The Force” in March, and Warner Bros. Pictures is hoping to release “Godzilla 2” at the end of the month.
