New scenes from 'The Last Jedi'
Disney followed through with their promise to deliver a new “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” trailer, and fans on social-media are loving it. It has been almost have a year since Disney and LucasFilm first announced the title of Star Wars Episode VIII, and since then we’ve only had a few character posters and a few teasers to keep us busy. Sure, Force Friday 2 gave us a first look at the new BB-E9 droid ($129 at Amazon) and the Star Wars website introduced us to the Porgs, but fans have wanted another trailer since SDCC.
The new Star Wars installment will have massive AT-AT sized footprints to fill. The previous Star Wars installment, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” was the fist of the planned spin-off films to hit the big-screen, and while it didn’t break Star Wars records, it did very well in theaters. The film grossed over $531M domestically before reaching $1B worldwide, which is still a record for a Star Wars spinoff (even if it is the only one at this point). Rogue One was directed by Gareth Edwards, the screenplay was written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy. “Rogue One” starred Felicity Jones, Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk. As for “The Last Jedi” the film could break a few records for Disney.
As for “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens,” that installment grossed over $936M at the domestic box-office before making $2.06B at the global box-office. Fans of the franchise can watch the new trailer below, filled with Jedi training and riddled with clues and secrets that fans will have to find.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will feature Carrie Fisher, the film was shot before her passing, as well as Daisy Ridley, Tom Hardy, Adam Driver, Billie Lourd, Mark Hamill, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and John Boyega. Episode VIII will be the second installment to the new trilogy, which started with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
“Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi” was written and directed by Rian Johnson and was produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman. The film was executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.
“Star Wars The Last Jedi” is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.
