TP-Link unveiled the company’s latest installment to the Kasa smart home family today, the KC120 Kasa Cam smart camera with night vision. Kasa Cam, TP-Link’s first smart home camera controlled by the Kasa app, provides everything you need to monitor and protect your home. The KC120 smart cameras are available now online ($129 at Amazon).
You can set the KC120 Kasa Cam to constantly monitor the surrounding area in your home for motion and sound. Once detected, the smart camera begins recording and sends a notification to your mobile device via the Kasa app. With the app, users can stream live video and recorded clips from anywhere.
“KC120 smart cameras deliver peace of mind like never before, ensuring your home and family are never more than a tap away,” said David Li, CEO of TP-Link Research America Corp. “Like all of our Kasa smart home products, you can seamlessly add it to your smart home and easily control it from the Kasa app or with your voice.”
The smart camera’s 1080p video is optimized to eliminate grainy video feeds, while night vision capabilities ensure nothing gets missed in the dark. In addition to providing live feeds at all times, each camera offers up to two full days of storage capacity and the ability to save your favorite family or fun moments directly to your mobile device. New Kasa customers will also enjoy a 30-day premium trial subscription upon installing the KC120 Kasa Cam.
The KC120 Kasa Cam is also equipped with two-way audio. This provides the ability to interact with family, friends and even pets while you’re away from home. Coming soon, integration with Amazon Echo Show will provide voice control capabilities that further simplify monitoring. After enabling the Kasa Skill for Amazon Alexa and linking the two accounts, customers can simply say “Alexa, show me the front door camera,” and the live feed will begin streaming on your mobile device.
KC120 Kasa Cam smart cameras with night vision are part of the Kasa smart home family which also includes Wi-Fi plugs, Wi-Fi bulbs, Wi-Fi switches and more. The Kasa app enables seamless control of all TP-Link smart home devices via your mobile device or with voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integrations. With TP-Link and Kasa, your smart home is always within reach.
The big takeaways are that the Kasa Cam offers 1080p video, where most are stuck at 720p at this price range. You will have a maximum 30fps frame rate and a wide angle 130° field of view. The company stated that the night vision has a range up to 25 feet, and all of this is secured with AES-128 bit encryption with SSH/TLS. Customers will have up to 1 GB of free cloud storage (equivalent to two days) with additional upgrade options available. Users will also have the ability to set activity zones to reduce the number of false alarm notifications. The company also stated that Voice control capabilities via Amazon Echo Show will also be coming soon.
The TP-Link KC120 Kasa Cam is available now online at Amazon for $129.
