Disney’s ‘Cars 3’ hits Digital HD in October

Happy 9-5 #95

Cars 3 Blu-raydisney

Disney has set a release date for “Cars 3” on Digital HD and Blu-ray. The third installment to the popular animated-franchise will release on Digital HD on October 24 ($14 at Amazon), and Blu-ray 4K Ultra HD on November 7, 2017. The film will include a bunch of extras to keep fans entertained, including an all new mini-movie starring the demolition derby legend Miss Fritter, inside access to the cast, filmmakers and more.

Disney chose to announce the home-release date on September 5th (9/5) in honor of #95 himself, Lightning McQueen. In the film the legendary McQueen (Owen Wilson) and spirited trainer Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo) team up to beat the new generation of blazing-fast racers.

The third film in the trilogy hit theaters back June, and opened at number-one during a very busy time at the summer box-office. Disney’s “Cars 3” took the top-spot from “Wonder Woman” when it debuted to a $53M weekend, and went on to make over $151M domestically. When the race was over, “Cars 3” ended its theatrical run with a gross of almost $344M for Disney. Brian Fee directed the third installment for Disney Pixar.

The original film was a runaway hit when it was released in theaters back in 2006, the animated-comedy grossed over $462M worldwide for Disney that year. The follow-up film released in 2011 is still the leader of the pack, having grossed over $562M for Disney at the time.

PIXAR’s next big release is “Coco,” the story of an aspiring musician named Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) who teams up with charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal) on a journey through the Land of the Dead. The film was directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, and also features the voices of Edward James Olmos, Benjamin Bratt, Cheech, and Renee Victor. The film is currently scheduled to open against the films “Death Wish,” “Molly’s Game,” and the action-comedy “Villa Capri”.

“Coco” is set to hit theaters on November 22, 2017.
