Currently on his farewell tour of the “Doctor Who” universe, Peter Capaldi will be attending New York Comic-Con this year. Capaldi will be joined by his on-screen companion, Pearl Mackie, and the duo will be meeting with fans and discussing the Who-niverse at the annual event in New York City. BBC America’s upcoming Christmas Episode will feature both the Doctor and Bill, an will be the final episode that features Capaldi in the role of the Doctor. Jodie Whittaker, the first woman to play the role of the Doctor, will be taking over for Capaldi in the next season.

Capaldi has become a fixture at cons across the country, most recently the actor appeared at the popular Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con to discuss the most recent season. The new Christmas is titled ‘Twice Upon a Time,’ but viewers will have to wait until Christmas to discover exactly how Bill, who will appear throughout the episode, makes her return.

It was also revealed that the special will co-star Mark Gatiss in a guest role – as a World War One soldier, known so far only as ‘The Captain.’ As previously revealed in the closing moments of the season finale, the special will feature Peter Capaldi’s current Doctor team up with the First Doctor, played by David Bradley.

That won’t be the only Doctor Who presence at the event, former companion Karen Gillan will be in attendance to promote the film “Jumanji” and the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise. This year’s New York Comic-Con panel has quite a few major stars confirmed already, including Star Wars’ Mark Hamill and Felicity Jones. Other notable actors on the list are Nolan North, voice actor Tara Strong, and
William Shatner.

This year’s event will take place from October 5th and October 8th at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.
