The one and only Stan Lee (Spider Man, Iron Man, The Avengers) was at San Diego Comic-Con this year, where Lee receive the first-ever “IMDb STARmeter Award for Lifetime Achievement”. The IMDb STARmeter Awards recognize entertainment industry luminaries who are fan favorites on IMDbPro’s STARmeter chart, which is determined by the actual search behavior of IMDb’s more than 250 million unique monthly visitors worldwide.

Col Needham (IMDb’s founder and CEO) and writer/director Kevin Smith presented the IMDb award to Stan Lee today aboard the IMDboat at San Diego Comic-Con. Previous IMDb STARmeter Award recipients in the “fan favorite” category include Brie Larson, Felicity Jones, Peter Dinklage, Olivia Wilde, Bryce Dallas Howard and Miles Teller.

“It was my honor to bestow the first-ever IMDb STARmeter Award for Lifetime Achievement upon Stan Lee, whose creative genius is responsible for many of the characters and franchises that dominate the comic book and film industry landscapes,” said Col Needham, IMDb’s founder and CEO.

The world knows Stan Lee as the man that brought Marvel to fans everywhere. His co-creations include Spider-Man, The Avengers, X-Men, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four, as well as hundreds of others. Stan currently remains Chairman Emeritus of Marvel, as well as a member of the Editorial Board of Marvel Comics. Stan is currently the Chairman & Chief Creative Officer of POW! Entertainment, a multimedia entertainment company based in Beverly Hills, CA, which he founded with production partner Gill Champion.

POW! has debuted several titles in the publishing sphere, including Stan’s graphic memoir Amazing Fantastic Incredible with Simon & Schuster; three books of the Zodiac trilogy with Disney Publishing; Solider Zero, Traveler, and Starborn with Boom Comics; Romeo and Juliet: The War with 1821 Comics; and Cosmic Crusaders with Genius Brands International. Stan has also been involved in developing feature film projects, including Annihilator, Prodigal, Realm, and Replicator & Antilight, as well as TV projects such as Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, which just completed its second season, and The Reflection. He released his first-ever Indian superhero, Chakra: The Invincible, which debuted on Cartoon Network in India and can be watched on the Rovio ToonsTV app, and is currently working on a number of potential superhero franchises, including one for the Latin American market.
