Two of Marvel’s avenging superheroes got together on a new mystery that will be distributed through The Weinstein Company. The studio released a new clip from the project earlier this week, and the film itself will hit theaters later this summer. Marvel fans saw the duo in the blockbuster “Avengers: Age of Ultron” where Olsen played Scarlet Witch, and Renner played Hawkeye. There won’t be any superpowers in this film however, just old-fashioned police work to get the job done.
The story follows a rookie FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) who teams up with a local game tracker (Jeremy Renner) with deep community ties. This tracker also comes with a haunted past, and the duo investigate the murder of a local girl on a remote Native American Reservation in the hopes of solving her mysterious death. The film was picked up by the Weinstein Company after its premiere at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. If you’re a fan of crime-mysteries, you might also want to checkout the trailer for “Snowman” that was released this week. That film was directed by Tomas Alfredson, working from a screenplay written by Hossein Amini and Matthew Michael Carnahan, and stars Rebecca Ferguson, Michael Fassbender, and Val Kilmer.
The mystery-thriller was written and directed by Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Sicario), and also features Gil Birmingham (The Lone Ranger), Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Street, Sicario), Julia Jones (Twilight), Kelsey Asbille (Teen Wolf), Graham Greene (The Green Mile, Dances with Wolves), Martin Sensmeier (The Magnificent Seven), James Jordan, Tokala Clifford, Apesanahkwat, and Tantoo Cardinal. You can watch the clip for the film below, thanks to an upload from TWC to the studio’s YouTube channel.
Star Thrower Entertainment is executive producing along with Riverstone Pictures and The Fyzz Facility. “Wind River” will hit theaters on August 4, 2017.
