A first-look at the ‘Wonderstruck’ adaptation, releasing this October
Based on the popular novel
Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions have released a first-look trailer for Todd Haynes’ “Wonderstruck” this week. The film, which is based on the novel by Brian Selznick ($10 at Amazon) will release during awards-season this fall.
“Wonderstruck” had its world premiere in the Official Competition of the 70th Cannes Film Festival, and it was quickly picked-up by Amazon Studios for a theatrical release. Based on Brian Selznick’s critically acclaimed novel Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry. You can get a look at the family mystery-drama below.
As we mentioned earlier, the film was directed by Todd Haynes, and features Julianne Moore, Oakes Fegley, Michelle Williams and introduces Millicent Simmonds. The film will officially hit theaters on October 20, 2017, and that will be a packed week at the box-office. The box-office may be overstuffed, but only a few of the films are standouts. “Geostorm” with Abbie Cornish and Gerard Butler will be the big action release that weekend, and “Only The Brave” with Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, and Taylor Kitsch will be the big drama. This week we got the first trailer for the thriller “Snowman,” which will feature Rebecca Ferguson and Michael Fassbender, but “Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween” could sweep the entire box-office again like the original did last year. Madea’s first Halloween adventure opened at number-one, beating out “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” and “Ouija: Origin of Evil”.
If you need to set a reminder for “Wonderstruck,” the film will release on October 20, 2017.
