Sony Pictures finally released a full-length trailer for the next “Jumanji” installment, which is called “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”. The new actioner is set to hit theaters this winter, and will feature an all-star cast.
In “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. Updated for a new audience, the teens discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, and they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting. The gamers are hurled into the bodies of their avatars, which are played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. The studio teases, “What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji -Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…”
This new installment was directed by Jake Kasdan, working from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Jake Kasdan, Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner. The film is based on the book Chris Van Allsburg, and was produced by Matt Tolmach and William Teitler. The film will star Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, and Bobby Cannavale. You can watch the first full-length trailer for the film below.
The original “Jumanji” was directed by Joe Johnston, the screenplay for that version was written by Jonathan Hensleigh and Greg Taylor. The original featured Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, and Bonnie Hunt. Released in 1995, the film opened at number-one in theaters, going on to make over $262M at the global box-office.

Fans still have a few more months of waiting ahead of them, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” won’t hit theaters until December 20, 2017.
