STXfilms released the first teaser-trailer for “A Bad Moms Christmas,” which will hit theaters nationwide this holiday season. The sequel will star Milas Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn, while also featuring the Bad Moms’ moms – Cheryl Hines, Christine Baranski and Susan Sarandon.
According to the studio, “A Bad Moms Christmas” follows the three under-appreciated and overburdened women as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of a traditional family Christmas. The studio describes the film adding, “If creating a more perfect holiday for their families wasn’t hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting and entertaining their own mothers. By the end of the journey, our moms will redefine how to make the holidays special for all and discover a closer relationship with their mothers.”
The comedy was written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, who also wrote and directed the first installment. The follow-up was produced by Suzanne Todd. You can watch the restricted trailer below, thanks to an upload from the studio.
The original film, which had an estimated budget of about $20M back in 2016, was a gigantic success for the studio. “Bad Moms” opened at number-three with a $23.8M weekend, and went on to make over $113M domestically. The film made close to $184M worldwide.
The sequel will have a lot of competition when it hits theaters, opening against Marvel’s “Thor: Ragnarok” that same weekend. While “Bad Moms 2” may not win the weekend, it could find a successful niche of moviegoers that would like to skip another superhero installment. The following weekend will be for the dads, as “Daddy’s Home 2” with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell is scheduled to hit theaters. That comedy has its own competition, as “Murder on the Orient Express” is set to open nationwide that same weekend. “A Bad Moms Christmas” is set hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
