Freeform’s ‘Shadowhunters’ will be adding Sarah Hyland to the storyline this summer, and she’s just in time to join in on all the fun. The ‘Shadowhunters’ summer premiere is set to air later tonight, and will be available on Freeform and on the Freeform App. The network confirmed today that Sarah Hyland will join the cast for a special guest appearance during the summer season. Hyland’s character will be revealed at a later date.

In the summer premiere of “Shadowhunters,” Shadowhunters and Downworlders are picking up the pieces after Valentine’s attack at the Institute. Downworlder numbers are down, and the different packs and clans debate on what they must do to survive. With Valentine in custody, the Institute is on high alert, but Jace carries the heaviest burden of all due to his part in igniting the Soul Sword and the secret he is keeping from Clary. But Jace and the Shadowhunters don’t have much time to mourn, as a Greater Demon is loose in Manhattan.
Meanwhile, Izzy’s struggles on the road to recovery when she encounters Sebastian, a mysterious stranger, as Simon tries to understand his new Daylighter status.

“Shadowhunters” is produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, McG, Michael Reisz, Matt Hastings, Mary Viola, Martin Moszkowicz and Robert Kulzer. The series stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon Lewis, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.   

Most fans know Sarah Hyland from her long-running role on “Modern Family,” Hyland plays the role of Haley Dunphy on that series. Recently the actor did join the remake of “Dirty Dancing” this Spring. The remake was directed by Wayne Blair, and featured Abigail Breslin, Colt Prattes, along with Sarah Hyland.
