The CW has added another villain to the “Supergirl” CW saga, casting Odette Annable as Reign. The villain is expected to enter into the story in Season 3.
All of this will be part of the World-Killer storyline made popular from the original DC Comics. The show won’t follow all of the intricate details of the original works, but will follow the themes throughout the season. Fans can expect a new look for Rein when she hits the CW in season 3, and DC and The CW will most likely suprise fans with a few photos and trailers as we get closer to the new season.
When you compare Reign to the extensive history of DC Comics, she’s rather new. Reign first appeared in the recently launched New 52, and has the power to end the Earth if she isn’t stopped. Reign got her powers from a Kryptonian scientists, and is powerful problem for Supergirl.
Annable has worked in television before, having recently appeared in “Astronauts Wives Club.” Fans might remember her from “House,” or “Cloverfield” as well.
The show will still follow Kara Zor-El, (Melissa Benoist) Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decided to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. In the show, twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El (who she teams up with from time to time now).
Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. The show will be entering into its third season, after doing very well following the switch from to The CW with fellow DC shows “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” and “The Flash”.
