Disney dates ‘Star vs. The Forces of Evil’ two-hour movie event
Star heads to the Mewni dimension
Fans are still waiting for season-three of “Star vs. The Forces of Evil,” but a two-hour TV movie event will premiere in July to help fans deal with the wait. The special event is set to premiere on July 15 on Disney XD, and will be available to verified users on the Disney XD app and Disney XD VOD platforms.
The two-hour movie will be called “The Battle for Mewni,” and follows Star as she returns to her home dimension of Mewni where she discovers that magic is disappearing throughout the kingdom. Star must dig deep and challenge archnemesis Ludo in an effort to save her family and kingdom. Season three of the fan-favorite and Annie Award-nominated series is slated to debut this fall.
“Star vs. The Forces of Evil” is an animated comedy adventure that follows fiercely awesome teen princess Star Butterfly. After receiving an all-powerful magic wand for her 14th birthday, Star is sent by her Royal Parents to live with the Diaz family on Earth, bringing along her own unique interdimensional style to her new home. Together with the Diaz’s teenage son Marco, they navigate high school and embark on dimension-hopping adventures across the multiverse while keeping her wand out of the clutches of evil.
Created and executive produced by Daron Nefcy, “Star vs. The Forces of Evil” stars Eden Sher (“The Middle”) as Star Butterfly, Adam McArthur (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”) as Marco Diaz; Alan Tudyk (Broadway’s “Spamalot”) as Ludo and King Butterfly; Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent”) as Glossaryck; Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) as Mrs. Diaz; Artt Butler (“Her”) as Mr. Diaz; and Jenny Slate (“Parks and Recreation”) as Pony Head.
“Star vs. The Forces of Evil” is a production of Disney Television Animation.
Fans can set a reminder to catch the two-hour event on July 15, and the show will return with season three this fall. An exact premiere date for the third-season has not been announced at this time. Disney XD has also been pretty busy detailing the cast of the new “Ducktales” reboot, which will also premiere later this summer.
