Meet the town, but literally

showtimeshowtime

There’s a new teaser-trailer for Showtime’s “Twin Peaks” revival, and it centers on the quiet town itself. The new series event will release in late May, and will consist of 18 hours of suspenseful mystery. The show will first debut with a two-hour premiere on May 21, 2017, so set a reminder to catch it before any spoilers or recaps hit the internet. Showtime subscribers will also be able to watch the show using the Showtime Apps.

The new series was written and produced by series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost. The series itself was directed entirely by David Lynch, and his eerie (yet strangely soothing) fingerprints are all over this new trailer. The show will once again star Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Kyle MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper. The guest-cast includes over a few dozen famous names, some returning, some new to the series all together. Showtime previewed a list of the 217 names that will appear in the limited-run of the new show.

“Twin Peaks” followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. Showtime teases the new series stating, “The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues…” You can watch the short teaser-trailer below, thanks to an upload to YouTube from Showtime.

Showtime also opened an online store, filled with official Twin Peaks merchandise. Mother’s Day is around the corner, and what better way to prepare for the show than with a tiny Agent Cooper figure.
