The studio teases the film calling it “an atmospheric thriller”. Directed by acclaimed writer/director Sofia Coppola, he story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. The studio explains, “Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.”

Sofia Coppola wrote the screenplay for the film, which is based on the novel by Thomas Cullinan. Joining Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning in the project are Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard and Addison Riecke.

Kidman recently starred in the film “Lion” alongside Dev Patel and Rooney Mara. That project was directed by Garth Davis, and managed to gross over $134M despite opening in limited theaters. Sofia Coppola’s last major-release was “The Bling Ring” starring Katie Chang, Israel Broussard and Emma Watson. That film was a limited-release as well, but managed to bring in over $19M for A24 back in 2013.
