Marvel released the first teaser-trailer for “Thor: Ragnarok” today, showing just a few moments of the film and setting up the first official-trailer. The new Marvel installment won’t officially release until November, but it will bring along a few of your favorite Marvel characters.
In the story Thor must battle the Hulk in a gladiator match, all the while trying to save his people from the ruthless Hela. This new Thor installment was directed by Taika Waititi, working from a story written by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost. “Thor: Ragnarok” will star Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett, Jaimie Alexander, Anthony Hopkins, Mark Ruffalo and Tessa Thompson. Fans of the Thor series can watch the teaser-trailer below, the first official trailer probably isn’t too far away at this point.
The “Thor” storyline has been quite a hit with Marvel. The first installment was directed by Kenneth Branagh, and made over $181M at the domestic box-office for Marvel. The film went on to gross over $449M at the worldwide box-office. The original film featured Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman. The second film was titled “Thor: The Dark World,” and was directed by Alan Taylor. That film also starred Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston, and was released just as the Marvel Universe began its takeover of the box-office charts. The sequel did even better than the original, grossing over $206M at the domestic box-office before ending its theatrical run with over $644M.
Marvel fans still have a long wait before Thor and Hulk battle it out for all the ages to see. The Marvel film will release in theaters this November. At least Marvel fans have Spider-Man, Black Panther and The Avengers to hold them over for a while, with even more films expected to release over the next two years.
