In the latest marketing installment from the Kristen Stewart/Karl Lagerfeld collaboration, Stewart has her dancing shoes on. While not a direct shot-for-shot remake, it’s hard not to get “Footloose” vibes when watching the video. Stewart even seems to borrow a few moves from Kevin Bacon’s iconic performance, which had Bacon dancing in a warehouse all his own back in 1984.
The entire video-collaboration is launching the new Gabrielle bag, a name chosen in remembrance of Gabrielle Chanel. Stewart is dancing to the tune of St. Vincent’s “Stranger,” whom she dated for a short while. The video was directed by Daniel Askill, and features Stewart alone in a seemingly abandoned work-loft. The Gabrielle bag makes an appearance in the video, clutched by Stewart during her, sometimes bizarre, dance-number. The short-film is part spirit-haunting, part solo dance party. You can judge the piece for yourself thanks to the video below.
If you liked the video, you can expect three more. Stewart was just the first of three big-names that will appear in ad-campaigns over the next few months. You can also expect Cara Delevingne, Caroline de Maigret, and Pharrell Williams to appear in similar ads.
Interested fans can read up more on the story behind the collaboration, and find more information on the bag on the official website. You can also preview a few of the ads, all featuring Kristen Stewart, that will be appearing over the next few months. In the meantime we hope that everyone learns to burst into dancing at their local workplace, and please include our favorite moves such as throwing yourself against the wall, table or cartop pounding, and spinning in a circle. Though we hope that the spirit of Gabrielle Chanel does not haunt your workplace, if so, please contact your local GhostBuster team at your nearest convenience.
