There’s a new trailer for “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” the sci-fi epic that is set to release later this year. A few teasers and promotional videos have been released in the past for the film, but this trailer offers a few new scenes and clips for fans.

Luc Besson directed the film, which is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2017. The film stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, and features Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, Kris Wu, and Rutger Hauer. The screenplay was also written by Luc Besson, the film is based on the comic book series “Valerian and Laureline” by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières, which was published by Dargaud.

Moviegoers most-likely remember Luc Besson as the director of “The Professional,” “The Fifth Element,” and “Lucy,” and should be excited to see him return to another sci-fi epic. The film takes place in the 28th century, where Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two embark on a mission to the astonishing city of Alpha-an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with each other. There is a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe. Fans can watch the new trailer below, thanks to an upload from the studio.

If you need to set a reminder for the film, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” will premiere in theaters domestically on July 21, 2017.
