Disney XD has renewed the animated-hit “Star Wars: Rebels” for a fourth season. The network stopped short of naming an exact premiere date for the new season, but the show will return “later this year”.

Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming and general manager, Disney XD said, “The team behind Star Wars Rebels delivers epic storytelling that has captivated fans of all ages across the globe. We’re excited to continue sharing the journey of these fan-favorite rebels with our audience in the fall.”

The show has been a hith with Star Wars fans, both new ones and old ones. The series itself is set between the events of “Star Wars Episodes III” and “Star Wars Episode IV,” so you still have evil Darth Vader, and a Death Star being built in secret. The story takes place in a time when the Galactic Empire is tightening its grip of power on the galaxy. The series’ crew consists of the Jedi Kanan, the pilot of the Ghost- Hera, the young Padawan Ezra, Zeb, Sabine, and everyone’s favorite grumpy astromech droid Chopper.

Interest in the series may have picked-up thanks to Disney’s hit “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which takes place right about the same time in the Star Wars universe as “Star Wars: Rebels”. The latest Star Wars release made over $529M at the domestic box-office, and over $1B worldwide. Of course that’s just in theaters, the film is about to release on the home box-office this month, and is available to pre-order on sites like Amazon.com.

Fans also have “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” to look forward to this year. That installment is set to release in December. The film was directed by Rian Johnson, who also wrote the screenplay. The film will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Benicio Del Toro, Adam Driver, the late Carrie Fisher and her daughter Billie Lourd, and Oscar Isaac and Laura Dern.
