Captain Jack Sparrow returns in the new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” trailer, which was released by Disney earlier this afternoon. The film follows the notorious Pirate has he searches for the missing trident of Poseidon. The latest installment to the long-running franchise was directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, with Jeff Nathanson writing the screenplay for the film.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise has been a consistent hit for Walt Disney Studios, now going on it’s fifth-installment over 13 years. The first film in the franchise, “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” made over $654M back in 2003, the follow-up “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” made over $1.06B in 2006. The third installment didn’t beat that record though, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” topped at $963M, but “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” did hit $1.04B. We will just have to see if number-five can beat that $1.06B record set by the popular sequel. ABC premiered the debut trailer for the film on the Ellen DeGeneres show, you can watch the trailer below or on the Ellen’s official YouTube channel.

The film stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, Orlando Bloom, Brenton Thwaites, and is rumored to feature Paul McCartney as well. That wouldn’t be a total surprise, as Johnny Depp also had Keith Richards featured in the franchise as well.

Fans of the franchise will have to wait a few months before the fifth installment releases in theaters though, Disney will release “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” on May 26, 2017. The high-seas adventure is expected to rule the box-office that weekend, though it will open against the action-comedy adaptation of “Baywatch”. Disney will most likely have May in the bag however, as the month will begin with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”.
