‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ adds Serinda Swan, Anson Mount to cast
Marvel had two big casting announcements to share with fans this week, adding Serinda Swan and Anson Mount to the cast of the “Marvel’s Inhumans”. Serinda Swan will be taking the role of Medusa, Queen of Attilan in the series, and Anson Mount will be playing King Black Bolt.
Most fans probably know Serinda from her work on “Ballers,” and the series “Graceland,” and Anson is best known for his work on “Hell on Wheels”. “Marvel’s Inhumans” is one of the many television series that the studio has planned, another is the Freeform series “Cloak & Dagger“. In the “Inhuman” series Medusa is the Queen of the Inhumans, and she is also the wife of Black Bolt. Marvel will be premiering the first two episodes of series in IMAX theaters in September, the series itself will air on ABC.
In an announcement on Marvel’s website Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and Executive Producer talked about the Medusa casting stating, “Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character.” Loeb added, “She is nothing short of wonderful.” Executive Producer and showrunner Scott Buck also commented on Serinda’s casting. Buck said, “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.” It was also confirmed that Iwan Rheon (“Game of Thrones,” “Misfits” “Vicious”) will be playing the role of Maximus, bother of Black Bolt.
Anson Mount’s character is the King of the Inhumans, his voice is so powerful that he can just whisper and it has the power to destroy a city. Loeb addded, “Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently”. Loeb continued, “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.” Scott Buck also discussed the character stating, “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”
“Marvel’s Inhumans” is executive produced by Scott Buck (“Dexter,” “Marvel’s Iron Fist”) along with Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” “Marvel’s Luke Cage”) and Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” “Marvel’s Luke Cage”) with Buck serving as showrunner. Roel Reine (“Admiral,” “Black Sails”) will direct the first two episodes. The series is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
