Xenomorphs return in ‘Alien: Covenant’ trailer

Goodbye sleep

Hide your cats and contact your MU/TH/UR, there is a new Alien trailer to get excited about. FOX has finally released a full-length trailer for “Alien: Covenant,” the next major installment to the long-running “Alien” franchise. This trailer is no teaser, featuring terrorizing Xenomorphs and pure Alien terror. Fans should be excited to see their favorite Alien causing terror once again, and with the franchise’s best director. FOX released a little prologue to the film last week, showing the crew prepping for cryosleep.

The new installment welcomed back director Ridley Scott, the famed director that created the original “Alien” film, though he has worked on several installments of the franchise since the original film hit theaters. In this new installment moviegoers will watch as the crew of the colony ship Covenant searches for a new planet to colonize. The crew is made up of fertile couples, who we expect are paired together to start to populate the planet. The crew finds a new home in the far reaches of their galaxy, but soon realize that it’s a dark, and dangerous world bent on killing them. You can watch the new trailer below, or on the official FOX YouTube channel.

Starring in the film are Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride. They are joined on-screen by Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby. Fassbender is actually returning to the franchise for this film, the actor played the same role of ‘David’ in the FOX hit ‘Prometheus’ back in 2012. That film was also directed by Ridley Scott, and featured Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green. “Prometheus” was big hit for FOX in 2012, the film made over $126M domestically before grossing over $403M worldwide.

Fans will have to wait a few more months before they can see the new Alien film in theaters. FOX will release “Alien: Covenant” in theaters on May 19, 2017.
