American treasure, and beloved actor, Tom Hanks will be putting out a new book titled “Uncommon Type: Some Stories,” through Alfred A. Knopf. The book was first announced earlier today, with details of the publication released on the publisher’s official website.

The book will contain 17 stories, all related in some way to a typewriter. Hanks is actually quite the typewriter collector, having a collection that reaches into the triple-digits. The stories will all be unique, ranging from Eastern European immigrants arriving in New York City, to local-celebrity bowlers. The publisher describes the collection stating, “They are surprising, intelligent, heartwarming, and, for the millions and millions of Tom Hanks fans, an absolute must-have!”.

News of the publication was first announced on EW, the details of the book were later released on the publisher’s website, including the fall release-date. In the article editor Isabella Biedenharn asked Hanks if he would adapt any of the stories into a film. Hanks didn’t have a favorite ready to go, saying, “All the stories are in the middle of much bigger un-seen stories. What comes before and after each of them could make a movie, I suppose. I skimped on the superheroes, though.”

This isn’t the only literary project that Hanks has in the works, the actor will also narrate an audio-book through the Random House Audio imprint. In a statement released today Hanks explained, β€œIn the two years of working on the stories, I made movies in New York, Berlin, Budapest, and Atlanta and wrote in all of them.” Hanks continued, β€œI wrote in hotels during press tours. I wrote on vacation. I wrote on planes, at home, and in the office. When I could actually make a schedule, and keep to it, I wrote in the mornings from 9 to 1.”

Fans of Tom Hanks can expect the book to release on Oct 24, 2017, and the book is available to pre-order through authorized retailers like
