‘Assassin’s Creed’ will release in Digital HD this March
Bring the Animus to your door
Fire up the Animus and get ready to jump, “Assassin’s Creed” will release on Digital HD on March 10, 2017. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment confirmed the home box-office release dates for the sci-fi adventurer, the film will release in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and DVD on March 21.
The film is based on Ubisoft’s popular video game franchise, and the home box-office release will offer more than 90 minutes of bonus features. Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard star in the adaptation.
Through a technology that unlocks his memories, Callum (Fassbender) discovers he is a descendant of an ancient line of Assassins. Transformed by the past, Callum begins to gain the knowledge and physical skills needed to topple the Templar’s quest for world domination in the present day. Joining Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender (Cal) and Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard (Sofia) in the film is Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons (Rikkin). The film was directed by Justin Kurzel.
The film’s theatrical release was plagued by an overcrowded box-office back in December. “Assassin’s Creed” opened against Universal’s winter-smash “Sing,” Sony’s drama “Passengers,” and the FOX comedy “Why Him?”. It also didn’t help that “Rogue One: A Star Wars” story was still dominating the box-office at the time, having just released the week before. Despite the box-office obstacles, “Assassin’s Creed” did make over $54M domestically, the film made over $211M worldwide. Sci-fi fans can catch Fassbender in his next high-profile sci-fi film this May, the actor will be starring in “Alien Covenant“. Ridley Scott is directing the new installment, working off a screenplay written by John Logan. The film also stars James Franco and Katherine Waterston.
“Assassin’s Creed” is already available for pre-order on sites like Amazon.com. You can choose between the Blu-ray version, the DVD version, or the fancy 4K version if you prefer. The film is also available in 3D if you have the setup for it.
