Trust no one in The Circle

STX Entertainment released a brand-new trailer for “The Circle” this week, the sci-fi drama is set to hit theaters at the end of April. The film, which was written and directed by James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now), is based on Dave Eggers’ best-selling novel. The highly-anticipated thriller has an incredible ensemble cast, and opens in theaters nationwide on April 28, 2017.
 
The high-profile cast includes Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Ellar Coltrane, Patton Oswalt, Glenne Headly, and Bill Paxton. The Circle is a gripping modern thriller, set in the not-too-distant future, starring Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”), Tom Hanks (“Sully”) and John Boyega (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”). When Mae (Emma Watson) is hired to work for the world’s largest and most powerful tech & social media company, she sees it as an opportunity of a lifetime.  As she rises through the ranks, she is encouraged by the company’s founder, Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks), to engage in a groundbreaking experiment that pushes the boundaries of privacy, ethics and ultimately her personal freedom.  Her participation in the experiment, and every decision she makes begin to affect the lives and future of her friends, family and that of humanity. Gary Goetzman, Tom Hanks, Anthony Bregman and James Ponsoldt were producers on the project. “The Circle” will release in theaters on April 28th, 2017.

Tom Hanks is coming off “The Inferno,” another adaptation of a popular thriller, which did moderately well in theaters. “Inferno” pulled in $34.34M domestically last year, before making $185.67M in foreign markets.

Emma Watson’s highly-anticipated film “Beauty and the Beast” will hit theaters before “The Circle”. The film is an adaptation of the Disney fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love. That project was directed by Bill Condon, working off a screenplay written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos. The film stars Dan Stevens, Luke Evans and Emma Watson.
