Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures have released the first still from ‘Oceans 8,’ the next installment to the popular ‘Oceans’ franchise. The studio hasn’t released a trailer for the film, but did release a picture from the project that you can gaze at above. The shot includes Sandra B and her crew of ragtag robbers as they ride the New York City subway.
The new installment will be directed by Gary Ross, bringing on a new crew of all-stars including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Mindy Kaling. They will be joined by Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter.
The plot has been under wraps for sometime now, production on the film started back in November 2016. All that we know for certain at this time is that group of women plan and execute a heist in New York.
Ross is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Olivia Milch (“Dude”), with Steven Soderbergh and Jon Kilik producing, Michael Tadross, Susan Ekins, Sandra Bullock, Diana Alvarez and Bruce Berman executive producing, and Milch co- producing. Filming took place in and around New York City.
Collaborating with Ross behind the scenes are director of photography Eigil Bryld (“In Bruges,” “Not Fade Away”), production designer Alex DiGerlando (“Beasts of the Southern Wild,” HBO’s “True Detective”), editor Juliette Welfling (“Free State of Jones,” “The Hunger Games”), costume designer Sarah Edwards (“Tower Heist,” Showtime’s “Billions”), and composer Nicholas Britell (“The Big Short,” “Free State of Jones”).
The film is set for release in Summer 2018 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
Warner Bros. will most likely release a trailer for the highly-anticipated film over the next few weeks, possible on Super Bowl Sunday. Fans will just have to wait a little longer to see the teaser.
