Paramount’s hit action-thriller “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” will be available in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray/DVD and On Demand starting on January 31, 2017. The film is being released through Paramount Home Media Distribution.
You can watch the film a little early if you choose the Digital-HD version, that option will release two weeks earlier on January 17, 2017. All three physical-versions of the film are currently available for pre-order on sites like Amazon.com, and were actually on sale at the time this article was written.
In the film, Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) returns in the sequel based on author Lee Child’s best-selling series. When Army Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders) is framed for treason, Reacher discovers she’s the target of a massive government conspiracy. The studio teases the film stating, “With help from Turner and a mysterious new ally, Reacher risks everything to take down a powerful organization that will stop at nothing to protect its secrets”
The film released in theaters back in October, bringing in $58.69M domestically. The film then went on to make over $161.48M worldwide. The sequel was directed by Edward Zwick, working off a screenplay that he co-wrote with Richard Wenk. Along with Cruise, the film stars Cobie Smulders and Aldis Hodge.
The follow-up didn’t do as well as the original, which released in 2012. The first “Jack Reacher” made $80.07M domestically and finished its theatrical run with a gross of $218.34M globally. A surprise at the time, “Jack Reacher” failed to take the top-spot opening weekend, instead losing the honor to “‘Boo! A Madea Halloween”. The original film was directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and based on the Lee Child book “One Shot” by Lee Child. Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike and Richard Jenkins starred in that installment.
Tom Cruise already has “M:I 6 – Mission Impossible” lined-up for 2018, but a new Jack Reacher film has not been officially announced with Tom Cruise at this time.
