Wolverine returns for another ‘Logan’ trailer
Wolverine is a terrible baby-sitter
FOX has a new trailer for “Logan,” the next installment to the popular ‘Wolverine’ franchise. This is scheduled to be the final Wolverine film for Hugh Jackman, who has been playing the role of the popular X-MEN for almost seventeen-years at this point. Of course, if Ryan Reynolds has anything to say about it, Hugh Jackman will come out of retirement to play the role in a “Deadpool” project, but that remains to be finalized.
FOX teased the story stating, “In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.”
The film was directed by James Mangold, who has worked on Wolverine projects in the past. Joining Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart in the film are Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and Dafne Keen. The screenplay was written by Michael Green and Scott Frank.
While Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine character has appeared in the X-MEN franchise as well, the standalone Wolverine films have been extremely popular. The last film in the spinoff series, “The Wolverine,” brought-in $132.55M domestically, going on to make over $414.82M worldwide back in 2013. That installment was also directed by James Mangold, it was Mark Bomback and Scott Frank that co-wrote that screenplay. Also featured in the film were Will Yun Lee and Tao Okamoto.
One of the most recent films in the X-MEN saga, “X-MEN Apocalypse,” grossed $155.44M domestically, before ending its theatrical run with $543.93M at the global box-office. That X-MEN installment was directed by Bryan Singer, working off a screenplay that he wrote with Simon Kinberg. The film also featured James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.
