Here’s your first trailer for “Rings”

Paramount Pictures released the first official-trailer for “Rings” today, the upcoming horror-thriller will be the latest installment in the popular ‘Ring’ franchise. The original American-adaptation of the franchise released in 2003, and has been scaring audiences with several installments over the past decade.
“Rings” will hit theaters in just a few weeks, the studio will release the film domestically on February 3, 2017. This new installment was directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, the original film, called “The Ring”, was directed by Gore Verbinski. The first film featured Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson and Brian Cox.
The cast of “Rings” includes Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe and Johnny Galecki. They will be joined by Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio. The film is based on the screenplay written by Jacob Estes, and Akiva Goldsman.
“Rings” is a new chapter in the popular franchise, the story follows a young woman who becomes worried about her boyfriend after he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape. The tape is said to kill the watcher seven days after it was viewed. The young woman sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend, and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before.
The franchise has been a stable hit for the studio over the past few years. “The Ring” went on to make $129M domestically in 2003, and over $120M in foreign markets. The studio did release “The Ring Two” back in 2005, but it did not do as well as the original. The second-installment was directed by Hideo Nakata, and also featured Naomi Watts. “The Ring Two” made $76M domestically, and $85M overseas.
