CES is usually about innovative technologies and upcoming software updates, but there are always a few game announcements that find their way into the yearly event. This year Electronic Arts and BioWare officially announced a release date for the new installment to the ‘Mass Effect’ franchise, confirming that March 21, 2017 will be the launch date for “Mass Effect: Andromeda”.
Fans have been waiting for over a year to get a release date from the publisher, and lucky for them, the release date isn’t too far away. Readers across the pond will have to wait a little bit longer to get their hands on the new title, the game will launch in that region on Thursday March 23rd.
Sites like Amazon.com are already taking pre-orders for the game, offering in-game DLC and extra goodies, as well as collector’s edition specials. “Mass Effect: Andromeda” will launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.
When the cinematic trailer for the game launched earlier this year Bioware teased the game stating, “The journey to Andromeda begins now. Navigate the uncharted reaches of the Andromeda Galaxy to unravel its mysteries, discover vivid alien worlds, and lead the charge to find a new home among the stars.” The developer asked the question, “How far will you go to become humanity’s hero?”
If you are itching for more “Mass Effect” content, you can always join the Andromeda Initiative.
The developers told fans in an-online letter, “Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date. We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems.” The company went to say that this will be the first game built on Frostbite game engine, which will offer better graphics than previous installments.
