Lionsgate released a new “John Wick: Chapter 2” trailer this morning, the film will be a follow-up to the 2014 hit starring Keanu Reeves.
This new installment was directed by Chad Stahelski, who also directed the original film in the now ongoing series. Derek Kolstad, the screenwriter for the original film, will also be returning to the franchise for the sequel. Joining Keanu Reeves in “Chapter 2” will be Ruby Rose and returning actor Bridget Moynahan. The original film starred Reeves, Michael Nyqvist, Willem Dafoe and Adrianne Palicki.
The new installment will once again call on the actions of former hitman, John Wick, who just can’t seem to leave his troubled past behind him. Fans of the first film should be happy to see that both Reeves and Moynahan are returning for the second-installment, as well as John Leguizamo. Other names attached to the project are Common, Riccardo Scamarcio, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Franco Nero and Ian McShane. This marks the first official trailer released by the studio for the new film, Lionsgate had previously released a few teasers and a few posters to get fans excited for the follow-up. Not that too many fans need a reason to be excited for the second film, since the original was such a big hit with fans and critics alike two-years ago.
The original film became quite a success for Lionsgate when it hit theaters back in 2014. “John Wick” debuted to a $14.41M weekend, a surprise hit for Lionsgate at the time. The film went on to make over $43M domestically and $42.97M overseas, and in the end, the first chapter in Keanu Reeves’ tale brought-in over $86M for the studio. If you were a fan of the first chapter, then you will want to catch the new trailer below, or you can watch all of the action on the official YouTube page for Lionsgate.
