BBC America released another trailer for the upcoming “Doctor Who Christmas Special,” which is being titled” The Return of Doctor Mysterio”. The trailer shows a bit more of the Doctor’s upcoming adventure, which will debut this Christmas.

The Christmas episode is usually a fan-favorite, often times filled with special guests and holiday themes. In the new special, The Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, teams up with an investigative journalist, played by Charity Wakefield (Wolf Hall, The Player) and a superhero to save New York from a deadly alien threat. Matt Lucas (Bridesmaids, Little Britain) returns to the series as Nardole and Justin Chatwin (Orphan Black, Shameless) joins the cast in a guest starring role as Grant.

The special is written by Steven Moffat, executive produced by Brian Minchin, produced by Peter Bennett and directed by Ed Bazalgette (Poldark). It was shot in Cardiff at BBC Wales Roath Lock Studios.

During the Doctor Who Takeover Marathon, airing in the days leading up to the Christmas Special premiere, BBCA will air all six episodes of the animated series Doctor Who: The Power of the Daleks in color.

The new season of Doctor Who will premiere alongside the Doctor Who spin-off Class in Spring 2017 on BBC AMERICA. That series is gearing up to have a spectacular first-season. The show itself will be set in a school in contemporary London, and is executive produced by Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin. Starring in the series will be “Happy Valley” lead Katherine Kelly as a teacher in Coal Hill School. Greg Austin (Mr Selfridge), Fady Elsayed (Silent Witness), Sophie Hopkins (Dark Matters) and Vivian Oparah will join her in the show. More information on guest-stars and themes for “Class” will be revealed as we get closer to the premiere day, but for now fans can look forward to holiday of Who this Christmas.
