“Max Steel” releases on Blu-ray this January
The action-packed adventure of “Max Steel” will be coming to Blu-ray, DVD and VOD services this New Year, and since most readers probably didn’t see it in theaters, you can add this to your VOD options when you’re snowed in next month. The film will first release on Digital HD on January 3, 2017, then on Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand on January 10, 2017. The film is being released through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, and fans of Max Steel, as well as anyone that loves over-the-top sci-fi action, can unleash their power with Max Steel in just a few short weeks.
Max Steel follows 16-year-old Max McGrath who is just trying to fit in at his new school when he discovers that his body can generate a mysterious energy. When he meets Steel—a rebellious techno-organic alien who has been secretly watching him—these two unlikely friends find themselves hunted, and must band together to form the superhero MAX STEEL to stop the sinister forces who want to control Max’s power. The film stars Ben Winchell (Finding Carter, The Last of Robinhood), Ana Villafañe (Southbeach, Hiding), Maria Bello (Prisoners, A History of Violence), Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Twelve, “Ballers”), Josh Brener (“Silicon Valley,” The Internship) and was directed by Stewart Hendler (H+, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn).
The film hit theaters back in October 2016, where it reached $2.18M over the opening weekend. The film went on to make a little over $3.81M domestically. It was by no means a commercial hit for the studio, but if you’re a fan of the original content then you might want to check it out. The script was written by Christopher L. Yost, and the project was based on Mattel’s Max Steel Characters. “Max Steel” is also available to pre-order on authorized retailers, and can be found here on Amazon.com as well as other online options.
