Mark Wahlberg stars in first “Patriots Day” trailer

The official trailer for “Patriots Day,” the film which tells accounts of the Boston Marathon bombing, was released today from the studio. The film is set to open in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles on December 21, 2016 and will open nationwide on January 13, 2017.

The film was directed by Peter Berg, who wrote the screenplay and the story with Peter Berg, Matt Cook, Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson. Joshua Zetumer was also credited for working on the screenplay for the film. “Patriots Day” stars Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons and Michelle Monaghan, and was produced by Scott Stuber, Mark Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky.

The studio’s description of the film reads, “In the aftermath of an unspeakable act of terror, Police Sergeant TOMMY SAUNDERS (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again.” The studio added, “Weaving together the stories of Special Agent RICHARD DESLAURIERS (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner ED DAVIS (John Goodman), Sergeant JEFFREY PUGLIESE (J.K. Simmons) and nurse CAROL SAUNDERS (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and the strength of the people of Boston.”

Academy & Grammy Award-winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl) composed the score for the film.
