EA and Bioware celebrated “N7” day today, offering Mass Effect fans a great look at the upcoming new installment called “Mass Effect Andromeda”. The new game doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but it is currently scheduled to launch in “Spring 2017”.

N7 Day, or November 7th, is a day to celebrate all things Mass Effect. There is usually a sale at the Mass Effect online retail site, and Bioware usually shows off whatever current game/DLC it is working on. This year it’s all about “Mass Effect Andromeda,” and the developers offered up a gigantic cinematic trailer for fans to explore.

Som Pourfarzaneh, the Community Engagement Manager at Electronic Arts, took to the Playstation Blog to introduce the trailer and welcome fans to the Andromeda Initiative.

“N7 Day is a celebration of the Mass Effect universe and the game’s amazing community, and today, we’re extremely excited to take our fans far beyond the familiar boundaries of the Milky Way and into the depths of the Andromeda galaxy,” Pourfarzaneh said in his post. “We’ve got a new trailer to share that shows off the newest chapter in the series, and we’re also kicking off signups for the Andromeda Initiative and a ton of giveaways.”

The new game will have players taking on the role of Pathfinder, which is a little different than the Commander role that they have been playing for the last three installments. As Pathfinder you are leading a mission to explore an uncharted galaxy, which will be the new location for the upcoming fourth installment. This new galaxy opens up the story to new alien-races, new allegiances, new enemies and new mysteries.

Pourfarzaneh added, “You’ll experience a deeply customizable progression system as you lead your squad through undiscovered alien worlds, and utilize advanced weaponry and a host of special abilities.” The developers describe the trailer stating, “The journey to Andromeda begins now. Navigate the uncharted reaches of the Andromeda Galaxy to unravel its mysteries, discover vivid alien worlds, and lead the charge to find a new home among the stars.” The Bioware team asks the question, “How far will you go to become humanity’s hero?”
