Sony Pictures released an official-trailer for “T2: Trainspotting” today, a follow up to the 1996 hit. The film picks up twenty-years later, and while the world around them has certainly changed, the lives and attitudes of the motley crew of former drug users has not (for the most part at least).

In the film Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he could ever call home, only to find Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) waiting for him.

The studio teases, “Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger”. The film seems to offer the same artistic depictions and wonderfully absurd moments that the first installment offered, only with a slightly older cast. That being said, seeing them together again, Ewan McGregor and Jonny Lee Miller have barely changed at all in twenty-years.

The film stars the original crew of the 1996 hit; Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle. The new installment was directed by Danny Boyle, the same director that brought you the original “Trainspotting”.

T2 was produced by Andrew Macdonald, Danny Boyle, Christian Colson and Bernard Bellew, with Irvine Welsh and Allon Reich serving as executive producers. You can watch the first (slightly NSFW) official trailer below, and now you have a whole new Mark Renton monologue to remember.

The follow-up film will release in theaters on March 10, 2017.
