Day three of New York Comic-Con introduced a new trailer for the Lionsgate action-thriller ‘John Wick: Chapter 2,’ which will have Keanu Reeves reprising his role from the original. Fans didn’t have to wait long for a follow-up film in this franchise, the first film was released in 2014.
Lionsgate held panels for both ‘John Wick 2’ and ‘Power Rangers,’ the superhero reboot also launched a trailer this weekend, which you can watch here. As for John Wick Chapter 2, the new installment was directed by Chad Stahelski, working off a screenplay by Derek Kolstad. Stahelski represents one-half of the directing team that worked on the original, and fans should be pleased that he returning for the second chapter. John Wick 2 stars Keanu Reeves, Thomas Sadoski and Ruby Rose. The Power Rangers reboot was directed by Dean Israelite, and will bring Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks and Naomi Scott to the screen.
The first installment in the John Wick franchise did amazingly well for Lionsgate when it hit theaters in 2014. The film pulled-in over $43M domesticaly, opening at number-two with $14M over its debut weekend. An impressive number considering the film’s modestly priced $20M budget. The film then went on to make over $86M globally, setting a high-bar for John Wick 2 in the new year. The first film was directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, working off a script written by the same Derek Kolstad that is working on the new film. The original starred Keanu Reeves, Adrianne Palicki, Willem Dafoe, Michael Nyqvist and Bridget Moynahan. You can watch Reeves in the new trailer above, he will once again be playing John Wick the former hitman. Fans of the first film will still have a few more weeks of waiting ahead of them. The sequel won’t hit theaters until February 10, 2017.
